History
The Gateway Arena was built in 1972, excelled over the years, thanks in part to leaders like Lorni Sutherland, who acted as the arena manager, events host, and all-round friend to the people of the community.
The Gateway Ramparts of Borden won the 199 PEI Senior 'B' Hockey League Championship and they played at the Gateway Arena - new rink after the old which served the community for 30 years was torn down.

During the summer months
The Arena is used for summer programs, including a Children's Day Camp. The facility is also used for Birthday Rentals and community dances and other events.

During the winter months
The Arena is used by Southside Minor Hockey, Ringette, Public Skating, Adult Men's and Women's Hockey and Skating parties.
Arena Canteen
Opens from November to May each year to provide hot food choices for users of the Arena as well as a winter meal choice for residents and workers for businesses in the area.
